House Framing

Framing construction can come in all shapes and sizes, and serve all kinds of purposes. While I’m not going to frame an addition or build a new house, I will frame out your basement, build a few walls to make a new bedroom, or add that pantry or storage area.  Additional framing might also be necessary for those replacement doors or when you replace windows, a grab bar installation, etc. I have experience framing with wood and light-gauge steel studs for various applications. Whatever framing you need, you can count on it being completed with care and up to code.

Drywall Installation

I am proficient at drywall installation and repair, and can finish walls smooth. I have done quite a lot of drywall work over the years, and I am confident that you’ll be satisfied with the finished product. When I’m installing drywall, I am meticulous in the process to ensure you get the best quality in your new walls.

Finishing Work

Finishing work in building construction encompasses all of the work you see at the end of a project. This includes moulding, casing and trim work, home hardware installation, paint and putty, and the list goes on and on. With decades of experience in construction and being a partial owner of a young tenant finish business prior to our move to North Carolina, I have acquired all the necessary skills to make the end result of your project as beautiful as you imagined during planning.

Tile Installation

Tile can make a big difference in the aesthetic of your home. Over the years I’ve done all types of tile installation in bathrooms, for backsplash, and tile flooring. Since these projects are each as unique as the tiles that adorn your home, I offer custom construction services to meet your needs. If you can’t find the right piece to tie in your new tile floor with the existing wood floor, I can mill a custom wood transition to make your floors seamless.

Window Replacement

When you replace windows, you’re making a big investment in your home - I understand that and I am here to provide a quality installation at a competitive price. Window replacement sometimes requires changing the size of the opening - no problem. Maybe you want to try to get more life out of your windows by replacing hardware and seals, and dress them up with some new window casing and trim. Whatever your needs are, I will approach every project with attention to detail and creative problem-solving that guarantees your new windows will have you looking out over Asheville with pride.

  • I live in Weaverville and I love it when I can work close to home, but I work all over the greater Asheville area.

  • For most projects I provide a detailed estimate, with a clear scope of work so you know what’s included, any assumptions I’ve made, and anything you’re responsible for - everything clear and upfront. For tasks that are ongoing, or if you have a list of small tasks you need addressed where an estimate isn’t needed upfront, my rate is $65 per hour.

  • I am registered with Buncombe County, so I can obtain building permits, and I have general lability insurance in the amount of 1M. This means I am able to complete projects valued at up to $30K. I am not a licensed General Contractor, and am not currently taking on projects valued above $30K.

  • I was a General Contractor for many years, and enjoyed that life. A few years ago I decided to make a new start and focus on smaller projects so I am now a sole proprietor and do most of the work myself. I have a few folks I reach out to when I need another pair of hands, but I’m focused on self performing work so I can ensure the highest level of quality and attention to detail.

    If a project requires other tradespeople, I am happy to coordinate them and make the process smooth for all involved.
